Detailed Itinerary

Our experienced tour guide and driver will be greeting you at 8.00am at hotel’s lobby then we’re heading out of the bustling Phnom Penh Capital to Phnom Oudong and The Old Royal Palace of Banteay Longvek which locates in Kampong Speu about 52km Northwest Phnom Penh. From there, we have a fully guided to explore the former Cambodia’s capital as well as deeply knowing the Khmer rich culture and civilization before the capital was moved to the present Phnom Penh Capital. The journey takes approx. an hour and a half, drives passing beautiful countryside dotting with palm trees and huge rice fields.

Mt Oudong and The Old Royal Palace or Longvek date to the 16th century along with interesting history and its massive Buddhist pagodas enhancing unique Khmer architectures. The former Royal Capital was ideally founded by King Srei Soryapor and its large, impressive stupas house several Cambodia’s King’s ashes while Wat Veang Chas or The Old Royal Palace served as the royal residence for King Ang Duong in the 19th century. The emersed Wats or pagodas of Wat Veang Chas are truly impressive in terms of its Khmer style architecture that symbolizes the present Royal Palace, history and its tranquil water reservoir.

Stepping our feet in the base of Mt Oudong and admired by green jungle, we gently enjoy walking up the main stairway with around 500 steps to reach the summit where we take off our shoes to explore the surrounding that includes three magnificent stupas and other small temples whilst witnessing Oudong history from our tour guide and have a great breathtaking view before we continue to observe one of the well-known Khmer King’s stupas: Preah Chan Reachea Stupa and we wander around to see the ancient ruined complex adorned with a massive reclining Buddha statue made from sandstones.

By the time we return to Phnom Penh in the afternoon and if the time permits, we will spend a wonderful strolling at the intricately carved Wat Sowann Thamareach which is built following Angkor style.
