If you travel in November or December, we would love to recommend “Prek Toal Bird Reserve” which locates in Battambang while Beong Peariang Bird Sanctuary is available in the dry season occurring from March until May.
Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary Tour
Prek Toal is widely famed for its warm home for many species especially rare endangered waterbirds within Tonle Sap biosphere reserve such as Greater Adjutants, Spot billed Pelican, Lesser Ducks, Comorans, Darters etc. The boat trip gently slides along canal from Mechrey village passing by its floating community, learn from tour guide about bird breeding/migration and have a lot of chances to take photos as many as you like.
Pearaing Biodiversity Conservation Center
If you love nature and birds, Boeng Pearaing bird sanctuary would ideally be the best option. The boat excursion slowly cruises around one of Tonle Sap’s potential wetland and allows you to observe various threaten waterbirds that migrated from different parts of mangroves around Tonle Sap Lake. By car passing huge beautiful rice paddies dotting with palm trees, the journey is inspired by a short walking tour at local market.
